I worked at SFU Recreation as their graphic designer for a short time in the summer of 2014. below are the projects that I worked/collaborated on:

Fridge Magnets & Poster

While I was at SFU Recreation, I was responsible for increasing awareness of SFU Recreation’s existence both on and off campus. The promotions team came up with the idea of magnets, as they are easily placed on lockers and other surfaces around campus, as well as at home.

My task was to create different styles of magnets that would appeal to a large demographic, while also emphasizing SFU Recreation’s social media presence (which was growing substantially at the time). The ‘three pillars’ of Recreation also needed to be emphasized, and thus it was placed at the top of the magnet.

The poster seen on the second image was meant to raise awareness both online and offline for a yoga event happening on campus for both students and faculty. My intention was to make the poster appeal to a large audience of various ages, as well as emphasizing the ‘active’ part (hence the large colour selection).

T-Shirt

Another idea the promotions team came up with was to create branded T-shirts. This again would raise awareness of the brand on campus, and when worn in other venues with recreation-related activities.

I explored a number of options, including the three pillars of SFU Recreation (active living, community, leadership), some without the pillars, others with the website, etc. Ultimately, the team decided on the picture seen in image eight due to its familiarity to other branded shirts in the city (such as the ‘VAN CITY’ line) and visual simplicity. A superhero pose with the shirts in action can be seen on image nine.
