From January – November 2015, I worked at the Registered Massage Therapists’ Association of British Columbia (also known as RMTBC) as the Communication Assistant. Here are a few projects I worked on:

Newsletter Redesign

During my time at RMTBC, I was tasked with various design projects. As you can see in the first picture, my most important task was to significantly redesign the email newsletter that went out to 3,000+ members on a bi-weekly basis. The old newsletter was functional, but it left little space for additional content, and was restricted to certain text styles.

Using MailChimp’s drag-and-drop functionality, as well as bits and pieces of custom HTML/CSS code, I was able to come up with (based on their guidelines) what is visible in the second picture. This newsletter was quite a bit wider, so there was space for additional content in a sidebar on the left. This version also made much more use of images, the Gill Sans corporate font, and more features to make the content easier to share on various social networks. This transition also helped us in gaining more email subscriptions from RMTBC members.

Magazine Ad Redesign

RMTBC produces an in-house magazine that goes out to members three times a year (winter, spring and summer). The ad seen in the first image needed a redesign as it had too much text. The ad was created by a third party.

My redesign maintained the same amount of text, but I made the text smaller and added more white space with the intention of the information listed being more easily digestible. The redesign still maintained the aesthetic of the ‘prohealth’ brand, but also ensured that a good visual contrast was maintained. The advertiser preferred the redesigned version, and so it replaced the older version.
