Book Redesign (before and after) & Poster

I decided to create a self-initiated redesign of Amy Atlas’ book, Sweet Designs. I chose to do this in order to further my proficiency with Adobe InDesign, as well as publication/graphic design principles. This particular book was chosen due to it being a mix of a recipes and activities, allowing the pages to have a bit of variety.

Images were given precedence over other elements to create a clear visual identity. For example, the cover features an image that spreads across the front and back cover, with the text placed in areas that are not visually distracting. This idea was carried over to subsequent pages, with the inside cover, table of contents and section introduction pages all using this principle. The recipe pages inherit their header colours from colours in the image in order to create more visual cohesiveness.

The poster on image seven was made for the youth committee, where I served as the Marketing and Communication director. The intention was to create a clear visual hierarchy, with the image at the bottom of Joffre Lake meant to draw a viewer closer (it was placed on a bulletin board).
