Politics of Protest – News Story

The ‘Media On the Hill’ class required us to create a brief news-like story on a significant event happening on campus.
At the time in November 2014, Burnaby Mountain was at the epicentre of media attention with Kinder Morgan’s proposal to create the pipeline in a protected conservation area.
The focus of our news story was to inform the audience (our classmates at a final screening) of the significance of this issue. My role was to facilitate the technical side of the recording (both audio and video), as well as to edit the clip in a manner that told the story in a logical manner. Bits of coverage from other news sources were used under fair use due to the filming crew (our team) not being available to shoot key moments. All editing was done using Adobe Premiere CS5.
